The Social Populist aspect is a vital part of our party and as such is a Third Way ideology that makes a distinction between Capitalism and Free Enterprise because they are not one and the same nor are they interchangeable. Likewise free trade and fair trade are diametrically as free trade empowers internationalism with its belief in the necessity of national interdependence as regards economic status. One cannot have both national interdependence and economic self-sufficiency. In other words, Free Trade Global Capitalism empowers big businesses entities and their Chamber of Commerce allies on the path towards a New World Order and global government.
Capitalism and Communism are two sides of the same coin. Both ideologies are international in scope, nature, and outlook and both are opposed to ethnic nationalism and social populism. Both ideologies also end up with the concentration of wealth in the hands of a powerful (and often malevolent) elite. In the case of Communism that means that the State in the name of the working class owns all the land and factories in theory but in reality, society is dominated by party elites. In the case of Capitalism that means a few mega-corporations (almost always multinational in composition) and a few wealthy oligarchs dominate the economy and run all competitors out of business. (Usually by lowering their prices until consumers flock to them and smaller businesses cannot compete and go bankrupt after which the corporation raises their prices exponentially and recoups any profits them may have lost by lowering prices) They are one of the hidden hands that really control politics in the United States. This is what happens when a nation does not have a strong socioeconomic populist element!
