Just four airlines (Delta, American, United, and Southwest) now dominate 80% of the market in the United States. Jet fuel is at at all time low, so consumers wonder why the price of online tickets keeps going up. What is happening is a prime example of Cartel Capitalism in action masquerading as Free Enterprise.
The big four have been colluding among themselves by limiting the number of seats available and in many cases removing seats, if necessary, thereby artificially increasing demand by deliberately shrinking supply. Profits were up 12 billion last year which is up 60% from 1999. This is not Free Enterprise at work, this is Cartel Capitalism run riot! Capitalism and Free Enterprise are not one and the same! Under a SND State, such as our proposed White People's Republic, economic malfeasance (such as Cartel Capitalism) would be criminal in nature and depending on upon the severity of the crime could result in the WPR nationalizing the companies in question before they form an absolute monopoly.
Many will contend that one need not book on a major airline, if such collusion bothers you then there are a lot of smaller carrier airlines you are still free to choose from. The problem with that argument is a lot of the smaller airlines are still owned by the big four albeit under a different name so that the illusion of free competition remains although it is non-existent.
